Moon Valley hotel, Eilat, 1971.
I was invited to design a sign system for the hotel consisting of 26 buildings – each building containing four apartments facing four different directions. To direct the guests to each of the apartments would have necessitated a very large number of signs.
Instead of relating to each building as a separate unit, as conceived be the architect, I have painted half of each building in the same color as its opposite block – thereby creating 9 different color “streets”.
By repeating the color on the key holder, guests are guided to the area of their apartment where they find their room number boldly painted on the door.
